SUNSET IN SAN IGNACIO LAGOON

Laguna-San-Ignacio

Like every whale season, we have been going to the Laguna de San Ignacio quite often. With the same amazement as every year we contemplate the reproduction cycle of the gray whale, a cetacean that annually goes to the protected margins of the peninsular coast on the Pacific coast, to mate or have their young.

Early spring, it can be said is the best time of year to meet the friendly grays. Their arrival at the lagoons is monitored since the last days of December and their departure begins in early April. However, the time of the season in which we carry out this activity with the greatest success is from February 10 to March 28.

The San Ignacio lagoon has been recognized internationally, as one of the best places in the world to carry out the activity of observing gray whales. Without a doubt, an unforgettable spectacle is the encounter with these magnificent marine mammals, in their natural state.

It is very important to remember that such activity should be considered a privilege. We are pleased to say that we do our part by informing ourselves and respecting the guidelines imposed by the environmental authorities, as well as the measures adopted by the residents of each locality where whale watching takes place.

In our Facebook page You will find more photographs of some of our excursions to the Laguna de San Ignacio. We invite you to read on our page about the tours that we offer for both gray whales in the Pacific, as well as for Blues and many more in the Sea of Cortez.
